Connections in Christ is a new ministry for the 55+ community (although all ages are welcome).

Walk With God

Ladies, you’re invited to join us for Walk With God, a new weekly walking ministry for women of all ages! We’ll gather each Tuesday at 9:45 AM, beginning September 9. Our time will start in the Atrium with a short devotion, followed by a refreshing walk together in the lower parking lot (meeting in Wolfe Hall on rainy days).

PUMC Pumpkin Patch

OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK / BUY PUMPKINS TO SUPPORT PUMC YOUTH

The PUMC Pumpkin Patch will return Sunday, September 28! The Patch serves as an important fundraiser for the Youth’s service projects, trips, and general costs.

Blessing of the Animals

On Sunday, October 5, we will celebrate and bless our animal friends in a Blessing of the Animals service at 2 PM in the grassy field behind Wolfe Hall. You are invited to bring your furry, feathered or scaled family members to be blessed at this meaningful and brief service where we will share a song, some scripture, and smiles all around. We do ask that you ensure that your pet is on a leash or in a carrier.

Providence UMC, Dilworth UMC, St. Francis UMC, and St. Stephen UMC have a collective Men's Gathering group that meets quarterly. Gatherings include a free meal, a speaker, and a devotion. Rise Against Hunger Food Packaging Event

On Sunday, September 14,  we will host our 22nd Rise Against Hunger (RAH) meal packaging event! RAH is an organization that addresses those in immediate need of food and responds to global natural and man-made crises, including droughts, floods, conflict zones, and transitioning political situations. It will be held in the Mission Center and will start at noon, right after our worship services. Not only is this event great for individuals, but it is also great for the entire family.

We will pack 20,000 meals, which means we'll need at least 80 volunteers. So, please sign up to help make it happen. To volunteer, please click HERE.  If you are unable to volunteer but wish to help cover the cost of the meals ($0.41per meal), please click HERE. We need to raise $8,200 to cover the cost of the meals!

UMW General Meeting

The Providence UMW will meet on Tuesday, September 2 at 10:30 AM in the Chapel. The guest speaker will be Andrea Aldridge, the Community Engagement Coordinator for the Charlotte Rescue Mission. The Charlotte Rescue Mission (CRM) is a free men's (Rebound) and women's (Dove's Nest) recovery program with a dedicated staff that helps residents understand and cope with the core issues of addiction. Andrea's goal is to spread awareness that anyone can be helped through the Charlotte Rescue Mission programs. A CRM resident will also be here to tell her inspiring story.  Please join us for this special meeting with one of PUMC's long-time mission partners.

Providence UMC's inaugural "new" United Methodist Men's general meeting will take place on Thursday, August 28 at 6 PM!

We will spend time with one another, gather in prayer, enjoy a meal, and highlight the schedule for the next twelve months. This will include opportunities for larger PUMC group meetings, smaller group breakfasts and/or dinners, as well as quarterly Methodist Regional dinner meetings with our brothers from Dilworth United Methodist Church, St. Stephen UMC, and St. Francis UMC (save the date for the Regional Men’s Gathering on Thursday, September 18).

Memorial Day Program

Families & Friends of Veterans is a ministry committed to honoring the service of the veterans, their families, and active duty military of the PUMC community. Every year, Memorial Day is set aside to remember those who have died in service to their country. The Connections In Christ gathering on Tuesday, May 20 at 9:45 AM will be a special Memorial Day program. As part of the program, we will be honoring the deceased veterans of Providence. Invitations have been sent to the families of our deceased veterans and everyone is invited to join them, in the Atrium, for this special service.

Not in a United Methodist Women Circle but you would like to serve one night and meet some other PUMC women? Here is your chance! We meet in the PUMC kitchen and make 300+ sandwiches to be delivered to Roof Above Day Services Center the next morning. Then we will all go to dinner (Dutch treat) together at a nearby restaurant for social time/fellowship. The sandwich supplies for our service project will be provided. All you have to do is show up! All are invited to gather in Wolfe Hall during the Sunday School hour (beginning at 10 AM) on Sunday, April 27 for a very special gathering to hear what goes on “Behind the Hammer” with our Habitat for Humanity build project. Bob Glusenkamp, Senior VP of Programming, and Crista Ray, Faith Relations Senior Specialist, from Habitat for Humanity Charlotte Region will share the amazing story of our Habitat site, Habitat’s history in Charlotte, partnerships, how financing works, and more. This is a great way for you to be connected to our church-wide mission to do something real and tangible to tackle the affordable housing crisis in Charlotte. Don’t miss it!
